Internet of Everything Africa: 4th Edition

On Thursday 24 October, we held the 4th Edition of Internet Of Everything Africa : 'Blockchain Myth or Reality? Speculation or Optimisation?'

It was great to engage with so many of you at this event. Mrs Gugu Motlanthe, former first lady of the Republic of South Africa and trustee of the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation honoured us with her attendance. The panellists shared their different perspectives and expertise Blockchain.

•Lucien Pierce  - Managing Director at PPM Attorneys PPM

•Tanya Knowles - Chairman at SA Financial Blockchain Consortium

•Chris Becker - Blockchain Technologies Lead at Investec

•Kreaan Singh  - Founding Partner & Director for Coin Ed

Through the dialogue addressed questions around the adequacy of the blockchain policy landscape, security issues when it comes to potential fraud in a public blockchain, democratic cryptocurrencies and who is likely to dominate this space in the future.

Take aways included  an awareness that blockchain as a technology is still in its infancy, that a new economy is being born around cryptocurrencies and that the most life changing innovations using Blockchain could occur in industries outside fin-tech. Literacy and education around blockchain will accelerate and elevate the quality of innovation and social gains.
