Dr Thinus MaraisMedical Advisor at Sanofi-Aventis

Dr Marais completed his MBChB in 2011 through the University of the Free State in South Africa. Working as a Medical Officer at Kimberley Hospital in the Northern Cape Province, followed by Sabie Hospital in Mpumalanga Province, he developed a keen interest in infectious diseases and primary healthcare.

He joined Sanofi-Aventis in February 2015 as a Medical Advisor, working exclusively in the company’s vaccines division, Sanofi Pasteur, where he was advisor to a number of countries in Africa.

Dr Marais was appointed as the Immunisation Policy Manager from March 2017 where he was responsible for managing the Public Sector business for Sanofi Pasteur in South Africa. In June 2019 he was promoted to the Medical Head for Africa & Internationally Funded Public Markets (IFPM) within Sanofi Pasteur.

He is currently enrolled for a Post Graduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine through the University of Cape Town.
