FSACCI Launches Movember Campaign #fsacci4movember

Members & Partners News  |

November marks the start of the global Movember Campaign. FSACCI is very excited to bring to you our nation-wide social media campaign. The aim of Movember is to raise awareness of men’s health issues. In particular, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

Our campaign – #fsacci4movember wishes to contribute towards the efforts of The Movember Foundation as well as to create awareness of cancer in general. We would also like to, through this campaign, to highlight the great work of many of our members in the fight against cancer but also to further encourage their ability to become leaders in tackling cancer within South Africa.

The FSACCI community and its network, provides a great platform to help bring awareness to this cause. In addition, many of our members are already involved, through their business services or products, in the fight against cancer as a whole.

So, what exactly is Movember?

Movember is a global campaign run by The Movember Foundation. The campaign aims to raise awareness and funds that assist in ensuring men live happier, healthier and longer lives.  Donations are used to fund breakthrough research and support programs in aid of men’s health. The Movember campaign challenges men to grow a moustache, and men and women can be physically active or host a fundraising event to support the cause. It is through these challenges and events that we can get the conversation started and raise vital funds.

It is necessary to start normalizing these conversations about men’s health, particularly surrounding prostate, testicular cancer and mental health. The evidence is mounting against men. This not only affects the individual man but also families, communities and workspaces.

“The state of men’s health is in crisis. Men experience worse longer-term health than women and die on average six years earlier. Prostate cancer rates will double in the next 15 years. Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50. Three quarters of suicides are men. Poor mental health leads to half a million men taking

their own life every year. That’s one every minuteMovember Foundation
